Roof Panel vs Gutter

START HERE // WHICH MACHINE?

Roof Panel or Gutter Machine? Here’s How to Tell.

New Tech Machinery builds two families of portable rollformers. One forms the panels that become roofs and walls. The other forms seamless gutters. The right choice starts with what you make on the jobsite.

Two machines, two jobs

Start with What You Make

The fastest way to know which machine is yours is to look at the product, not the spec sheet. Find the lane that matches the work you do, then step into the catalog for that family.

Lane A

Roof & Wall Panel Machines

What it makes

Form long metal panels for roofs and walls: standing seam roofing, flush wall, soffit, and board & batten siding. Coil feeds into the machine, then finished panels come out cut to the exact job length.

  • Board & batten siding

Who runs it

Roofers, metal panel installers, and exterior contractors who want to stop buying panels from a supplier and start fabricating their own.

Seamless Gutter Machines

What it makes

Form continuous seamless gutters for each building: K-style, box gutters, and combo 5″/6″ runs. Coil feeds into the machine, then finished gutter comes out cut to the exact job length for each edge.

  • Seamless K-style gutters (5″, 6″)
  • 5″/6″ combo runs from one machine
  • Box gutters (BG7)

Who runs it

Gutter contractors, exterior crews, and roofers adding a gutter line. Lower entry cost makes it a common first machine.

Or run both

The Answer Is Often “Both.”

Roofs and gutters get sold on the same job, to the same customer, by the same crew. Plenty of NTM owners start with one machine and add the other once the work is there, turning a single trade into two revenue streams without subbing either one out. If that sounds like your business, you do not have to choose.

FAQ

Roof Panel vs Gutter, Answered

What is the difference between a roof panel machine and a gutter machine?

A roof and wall panel machine forms the long metal panels that become a building’s roof and walls, such as standing seam roofing, flush wall, and board & batten siding. A seamless gutter machine forms one continuous gutter, with no joints, to drain that roof. They are different tools for different products: one makes the surface, the other makes the drainage. New Tech Machinery builds both.

Which machine do I need for standing seam metal roofing?

You need a roof and wall panel machine. NTM’s roof panel lineup (the SSQ3™ MultiPro, SSH™, SSR™, and 5V Crimp) rollforms standing seam and exposed-fastener roof panels on the jobsite. A gutter machine cannot make roof panels. If standing seam roofing is your main work, start on the roof and wall panel machines page.

Which machine do I need to make seamless gutters?

You need a seamless gutter machine. NTM’s MACH II™ line makes seamless K-style gutters in 5", 6", and a 5"/6" combo, and the BG7 makes box gutters. Seamless means the gutter is formed in one continuous run cut to length on site, so there are no joints to leak. Roof panel machines do not make gutters.

Can one machine make both roof panels and gutters?

No. Roof panels and gutters are formed by separate machines because the profiles are completely different. Many NTM owners run both, a roof panel machine and a MACH II™ gutter machine, to serve roofing and gutter work from the same crew. They are bought and operated as two machines, not one combination unit.

How much do NTM machines cost?

Seamless gutter machines are the lower-cost entry point, starting at $9,800 for the MACH II™ 5". Roof and wall panel machines start at $44,900 for the SSR™ MultiPro Jr. and run higher for flagship multi-profile machines like the SSQ3™. NTM offers financing, including lease-to-own and seasonal plans, on both families.

I am new to portable rollforming. Where should I start?

Start with the work you already do or want to do. If you install metal roofs or panels, look at the roof and wall panel machines. If you run gutters and exteriors, look at the seamless gutter machines, where the lower entry cost makes it a common first machine. If you’re still unsure, take the machine quiz or talk to an NTM specialist and they’ll point you to the right family.

Still Not Sure Which Way to Go?

Tell us about the work you do and the customers you serve, and an NTM specialist will point you to the right machine. No pressure, no obligation.
