Buying a portable rollforming machine

Many customers run into problems when ordering a New Tech Machinery (NTM) rollforming machine because they lack information. As a result, they ask many of the same questions about their purchase. In this article, you’ll learn the answers to the eight most common questions new NTM machine buyers ask when ordering a machine.

For over 30 years, New Tech Machinery (NTM) has been a leading manufacturer of portable metal roof and wall panel rollformers and gutter machines. Our team often encounters a number of questions from prospective and current customers working through ordering and receiving machines. Here, we’ve compiled and answered some of the most common questions to help you better understand financing, shipping and delivery, and service and training.

1. Does NTM Offer In-House Financing?

We do not offer in-house financing. Instead, we work with third-party financing companies and are happy to provide a list of recommended financiers. You can also use your own bank for financing. On machine orders, we require a 25% down payment to place an order into our production schedule, with the balance due upon the start of production, while accessories orders must be paid in full up-front. Personal loans or credit cards are alternative options for new businesses having trouble qualifying for financing. However, please note that our credit card limit is $20,000.

2. What Are NTM’s Payment Terms?

While we require a 25% deposit for roofing machines to enter production, with the balance due once production begins, due to their shorter lead times, gutter machines generally require payment in full upfront. We do not offer monthly payment plans, but customers can make multiple payments as long as the balance is paid in full by the time the machine is ready for production.

3. How Do I Make a Payment for My Roof Panel or Gutter Machine?

The most common payment method for our machines is wire transfer, which is the fastest way to ensure the money reaches us so that we can get your machine into production. Some customers also pay by check, but this is less common. While wire transfers may incur additional fees, they are generally preferred for their speed and efficiency. Always confirm the banking information via phone call with your NTM Account Manager to help avoid potential wire fraud.

4. What Are NTM’s Shipping and Delivery Terms?

Shipping and delivery are critical aspects to consider when purchasing our machines. We typically ship using enclosed cargo containers on an 18-wheeler. Therefore, customers must have a forklift and dock to offload the equipment. If a customer does not have these, we recommend shipping to a nearby freight terminal that can accommodate the delivery or arrange for a flatbed truck to deliver. It’s important to prepare your facility for the arrival of an 18-wheeler. Also, we do not install machines into customer-supplied trailers.  While we can get them loaded into these trailers, NTM takes no responsibility or liability in placing machines into customer-supplied trailers.

5. How Does NTM Handle Custom Requests?

We do not offer custom modifications to our machines. The products listed on our website reflect our current offerings. No alterations or customizations can be made. Customers should be aware that any modifications they make on their own will void the warranty. We encourage feedback and continuously work to innovate, but custom engineering projects are not made for individual requests.

6. What Is NTM’s Return Policy?

Due to the nature of our products, our return policy is strict. We do not accept returns on machines. However, if notified within 30 days of purchase, a return may be possible for smaller items like profiles or power packs, but a 15% restocking fee and freight charges will apply. Customers must understand the limitations and requirements before purchasing to avoid any issues. We encourage our clients to work with an account manager to ensure they get exactly what they need with their new machine. Also, you can start the process by downloading our quote checklist for a quote.

7. How Do I Get Service for My Machine?

For service-related questions, we have expert technicians available to help. Customers should contact our service department to get into the queue to speak with a technician. When you speak with a machine specialist, it’s important to provide the machine’s serial number and any images or videos of the issue. All service requests should be directed to our service department rather than our sales team. You may also access service resources on our service page or find instructional videos and articles in our Learning Center.

8. Lead Times and Expediting Orders

Lead times for our machines can vary, and while we strive to be as predictable as possible, we cannot guarantee exact delivery dates until production is scheduled. Customers are encouraged to plan their purchases in advance to avoid the need for expedited shipping.
