“NTM is very excited about going to Gutter-Con this year and getting the opportunity to meet lots of new people,” says Thomas Campbell, NTM’s Gutter Machine representative who will be attending the event as an exhibitor. “We are expecting a great and successful year, especially in regard to our awesome NTM Mach II Gutter Machines. I invite everyone to stop by our booth and meet us during the show.”

How Gutter-Con Started
Gutter-Con started out during the pandemic, when gutter business owner Bren VanderZwaag, owner of Metro Gutter & Home Services in Nova Scotia, made an internet search for gutter conferences. While finding plenty of roofing expos and events around the country, nothing came up for gutter businesses.
VanderZwaag decided to start his own, and his first call was to New Tech Machinery. Following the initial contact with New Tech, VanderZwaag travelled to Denver and met with NTM Vice President Terry McGuire. The first conference took place in Colorado, where participants also toured the NTM plant.
“Gutter-Con has brought gutter contractors together from all over North America,” says VanderZwaag. “It’s a great opportunity for gutter businesses, whether they’re just starting out or looking to make their operations run more efficiently.”
The conference has grown from just under 100 participants in the inaugural year, 2022, to around 300 in 2024. While most participants are small gutter business owners running 1-3 trucks, those with large operations generating well over $1 million per year in revenue also attend.

How It All Began
10:30 AM – 11:15 AM
Presenters: Ken Parsons, Founder, The Brothers Who Just Do Gutters
Ryan Parsons, The Brothers Who Just Do Gutters
In 1999 Ken Parsons had just left the teaching industry and started his own gutter contractor company under the name Waterfall Seamless Gutters. In 2002 Ken’s younger brother, Ryan Parsons, accepted a job on the truck with Ken after the Graphic Design company he was working for crashed. In 2006 the Brothers briefly changed their name to Water-flow Gutter Solutions before finally becoming “The Brothers that just do Gutters” in 2009. The name we all know and love came from a radio ad the Brothers ran just a couple years prior to the change. Everyone who heard it liked it so much they thought it was the company name so Ken and Ryan stopped fighting it and adopted the name. With the name change came a few title changes as well. We decided we no longer wanted to be salesman, presidents or owners but rather Solutionists©, which embodied what we represent to our clients. Ken Parsons was re-entitled Senior Solutionist©, and Ryan Parsons became Chief Solutionist©.
Being in the gutter contractor business for over 15 years was an effort of adaptation and determination. We have been able to be successful for so long because we made our main focus the customer. The Brothers that just do Gutters offer a wide variety of installations, cleaning and repairs in a small niche industry of seamless rain gutters and leaf guards. We have been able to grow the reliability of our services and offer only the best products by focusing all our effort on gutter systems and guards.
Referrals Made Simple: How to Grow a Phenomenal Business without Paid Advertising
11:15 AM – 12:00 PM
Presenter: Howard Partridge, Phenomenal Coaching
Most business owners, coaches and independent professionals agree that referrals are the best way to get new clients, but most don’t have a system to generate referrals consistently. Instead, they rely on casual referrals and barely survive, or they waste a lot of money on advertising that doesn’t work. Maybe you have tried some kind of referral process, but didn’t have the results you hoped for.
Howard knows how you feel. He started his first business out of the trunk of my car over forty years ago. He tried all sorts of advertising. But soon realized his best clients came through referrals. So he built a system that generates over a million dollars per year in referrals for just one of his companies.
The best part is he has helped thousands of small business owners grow the business of their dreams through referrals. that have revolutionized their business using this system. In this session, you’ll learn how they did it, and how you can too!

Fast forward to today, it’s a company operating with clarity, confidence, and a 17% net profit. How did we turn things around? By mastering three essential principles every gutter business owner needs to succeed.
This presentation is a guide to transitioning from technician to business owner by understanding the numbers that truly matter. We’ll break it down into three actionable sections:
· Mastering Your Metrics: Learn how to organize your financials, why accrual accounting outperforms cash-based systems, and how to track the metrics that map your way to success—like moving from a paper map to GPS.
· Prioritizing Profitability: Discover why growing revenue isn’t the whole story. We’ll share how to use gross profit to create pricing strategies that sustain and grow your business. Remember, “Revenue is vanity; profit is sanity.”
· Engineering Growth: Success isn’t accidental. With a clear plan, measurable goals, and deliberate execution, you can create a thriving business instead of just surviving.
Becoming a successful business owner doesn’t happen by chance—it’s built with intention. Join us to learn practical strategies to transform your operations, ensuring profitability and growth. The tools are here; it’s time to make them work for you.
